Built in 1901, this is one of two Carnegie libraries in Superior, Wisconsin.  It is on Hammond Avenue in a working class part of town.  At the time these photos were taken in 2011, this library was vacant and undergoing restoration.

This was the main library in Superior until 1991. Believe it or not, the City Council voted to demolish this building, but the destruction was stopped via restraining order.

  1. I love this building. I took a picture of it in college for my photography class, before they put that sign up in the yard. Also, at one time there was a posting somewhere with a bunch of interior pictures – it was very cool. If I come across it again, I will post the link here.

  2. This is great. Thank you for saving it, Wisconsin folk.
I missed it if it said what projected plans are for its reborn use :::
    Anybody know?
