About Us

In 2003, we started a project to document North Dakota’s ghost towns and abandoned places through photography — a project that became the website, GhostsofNorthDakota.com, and later, a series of hardcover coffee table books.

Along the way, we branched out a little bit, into Minnesota with GhostsofMN.com, but we also made plans to someday visit the intriguing, abandoned, faraway places of North America — a wish list of the abandoned. Ghosts of North America is where we’ll be sharing our adventures with you!

We’re from North Dakota, and the geographical center of the continent is here in our state, so what better way to start exploring North America’s abandoned places than from the center out?

Please take a look around, then follow us on Facebook and Twitter.  Enjoy Ghosts of North America and thanks for stopping by!

  1. Are you planning a book of ghost towns of South Dakota ? I am sure there would be a lot of interest and customers ! There are some cool ghost farms as well. some of them have been plowed under. A ghost town named Dixie is long gone but one of it’s buildings was saved and is on main street in Claire City near Veblen.

  2. Love reading about these times gone by! I grew up in Knox County, Nebraska and fondly remember some of the places photographed!

  3. Do you know about Western Washington State Mental Hospital? I would love it if you visited the old park and the newer buildings!!!

  4. I would love to see a book on the Ghost towns of South Dakota. I grew up in Rosholt SD. If there are some where and how do we order them. Thanks Mary
